Hi, this is a False Widow in genus Steatoda. I don’t know which species. She isn’t dangerous to people or pets. They are quite effective at killing insects and other spiders.
What’s worse? Your Steatoda Gross or your Crap Spider? I know it’s a typo 🙂 and it amuses me. I don’t know which it is. There are about 118 Steatoda species in the World. Many of them are in multiple parts of the world, which makes it a bit difficult to go by location for some of them.
They go by many names.. we recently got a sighting of a Rabbit Hutch Spider from someone who had a rabbit hutch. That’s a specific species in Steatoda. They are also all called Tangleweb Spiders. I didn’t even know that when I chose my username.

Steatoda Gross, or Steatoda Noblis?
