Picture of Actinopus - Male - Dorsal

Comments & ID Thoughts

Found limping and moving slowly, not running away, probably near death?
A second identical spider was also found in an extremely similar condition.
First time I've ever seen this kind of spider around here and I've seen plenty of spiders around! Coin is 23mm wide.
Huge pedipalps, shiny black color; looks pretty dangerous.

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 I’m not well versed in either Mygalomorphs nor South American Spiders and there is not much detail to go on here … however those are some crazy long and distinctive looking pedipalps. I’m seeing similar looking examples IDed as Actinopus spp. and I see 27 species listed in the genus for Argentina … so best guess, tentatively this looks like an Actinopus sp..
