This Spider was found near a ditch filled with water and reed like plants. It hid itself in a lashing strap on a building, visible in the photo

Could this be Araneus diadematus, the Cross Orb-weaver?
Yes. Her markings a quite orange. I think there are subspecies within the species. The ones in NorthAmerica were introduced. She looks more like Araneus gemma, but the range doesn’t fit.
