Always happy to help a 3rd grader! This is Araneus diadematus. Her common name is Cross Orbweaver. She has that name because the dotted white lines on her back cross each other in her “shoulder area. Notice that she has two projections (pointy ) in that area. An interesting thing about her is that she is technically a giant. The males of her species are normal size little spiders, but the females are scientifically giants compared to the males (gigantism in sexual dimorphism).
