Gasteracantha cancriformis, She’s a Spiny-backed Orbweaver. This is a great photo angle, it shows both her dorsal and ventral markings. They can be found in several different color combinations.
Thanks for the education. At first I thought it was a tiny crab or seashell captured at the center of its web.
Interesting. I just posted a photograph of the same spider (I think). Perhaps TangledWeb can verify that my spider is also a Spiny-backed Orbweaver. Mine’s coloring seemed a little different, consistent with your notation. 🙂 Thanks!
