I believe its 99% chance a Nephilengys cruentata
It’s a common species of Widows (Latrodectus) found in Sri Lanka & India.
This spider species is found island wide. From the City to the Hills. I believe it’s a species of widow spider (Latrodectus), and mildly venomous. I’ve seen these guys many times (too many times). Often found under exposed roofs and in corners of houses.

I saw the photo details: do you think the “Nephilengys” may have migrated from Africa to Sri Lanka? I read stories of spider hitching rides on cargo ships/boats.
