Please help me identify the spider. I killed it as it dangled above us by the main floor elevators of the library. It’s got a good size (crushed in my average notebook). It has strange markings as well.
Hi. your spider looks to be Araneus diadematus,a cross orb weaver.Very harmless and docile, no reason to kill these. If they are in a bad location, easy enough to pick up and re-home outdoors out of the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFCAs2a2udM
Thank you so much! I’m from a different area and I’m just studying in this city for college, so I don’t know very many of the insects around. It was dangling by the elevators in one of the buildings and just to stop some freak-outs, I just grabbed my notebook to kill it. I wish I would have known that they were that harmless.
