What kind of spider is this? Saw in the afternoon walking out onto the road. The ground cover was orangish.
Marbled Orbweaver (Araneus marmoreus) also called a Pumpkin Spider.
I know it looked pretty cool, is it a common spider for Arkansas?
Our site doesn’t have any confirmed sightings of this species, or most orbweavers, from Arkansas. So, no it doesn’t appear to be common. or commonly seen. It is an awesome looking spider and it can be found in a variety of colors and patterns https://bugguide.net/node/view/2016 if you scroll down on this link it shows some of the variations. My favorite combo of colors is yellow with purple on this species.
Just found the same spider in our driveway in Diamondhead. Posted a pic under my uid.
