I found this in a tote bag in my garage today. These bags were recently in Farmington Connecticut. Not sure if we picked up the spider there or here at home in Billerica Massachusetts
It is a Grass Spider, they can be found in most states. They aren’t dangerous to humans. A way to quickly recognize a Grass Spider is the protruding spinnerets at the posterior. They usually have lengthwise tan and brown stripes and rows of dots. They make good use of the habitat they find. A tote bag is just the kind of mini cave one would like.
