It looks like a Wolf Spider in family Lycosidae. It looks like a Rabid Wolf Spider, but the genus doesn’t appear to have any recognized population outside of North America.
When I saw it, I was on the toilet when it suddenly appeared on the floor,inches from my exposed feet. I freaked out – I had never seen this kind of spider before, and I killed it with anti-cockroach/spider spray. Was I wrong to do this? I felt a bit bad afterwards.
Hmmm I’m not sure about this. I’ve read that rabid wolf spiders move fast and erratically. This one was moving slowly. Plus this one seemed to have relatively short legs in proportion to its body. Rabid wolf spiders’ legs have a different shape and length…
It might be a type of spider I just don’t know yet. Hopefully someone else will have some thoughts on it. On using cockroach spray while you’re on the toilet…..is this a routine thing? I don’t advise using pesticides so close to your own body. Step on the bugs quickly if you must kill them. Very few spiders on Earth, if any, will approach you to bite you when you aren’t moving. It doesn’t benefit the spider. They bite in self-defense to pressure against their bodies. So, the kind thing to do for yourself and the spiders is nothing or… Read more »
