No idea what this is - anyone help? On the ceiling of our jungle lodge in Thailand near Ranong and the Myanmar border. Soon after taking photo a gecko tried to eat it - unsuccessfully, the spider was twice its size.

Nice spider! I wish you got a photo of the gecko trying to eat it also. I think we might actually have more photos of spiders eating lizards than the opposite. My best educated guess is that it is a Huntsman in family Sparassidae, probably genus Thelcticopis. This is the list of all of the species in the genus from the World Spider Catalog. https://wsc.nmbe.ch/genus/3165/Thelcticopis From each species name on the gray horizontal bars are the primary ranges of that species. There are many that are possibilities. The ranges aren’t all- encompassing.
