Yes, good question. It is allowed if the copyright belongs to the person or their employer. We trust people to be honest about it. Copyrighted photos on some websites are okay to post as reference material as long as the website is in any way credited. We and Bugguide accept photos with visible watermarks/ copyright info. This photo is of my authorship. The watermark is of my environmental association, of each I’m president. hope this is clear for you guys…
Yes, thank you. LilDame is a new volunteer for our website. I offered to explain how we do things whenever she had a question. That is why that conversation started. Now we’ll get to work on the species ID.
https://www.itis.gov/servlet/SingleRpt/SingleRpt?search_topic=TSN&search_value=870921#null There was a Cyclosa conica subspecies believed to be in Portugal, C. conica zamezai. It has been removed as a taxonic entity and is just Cyclosa now. That brings us back to where you started. Unfortunately, from this point we don’t have the specimen and there may not even be a species designated for it at this time. So, Cyclosa sp. is the best we can do. Maybe taxonomic researchers would be interested in looking for more specimens using your GPS data. I’m curious, but I can’t help from North America.
Ok good to know
