Comments & ID Thoughts

Found under rock in wooded area in Austin, TX. Had dug a hole with 2 openings. Was 2-3 inches wide/long. Attacked a stick when gently moved out the hole (spider was not harmed)

Hi, I think that’s a tarantula, maybe a Texas Brown. There is a website, Arachnoboards were tarantula enthusiasts hang out and help identify spiders (mostly poached ones sold unidentified into the pet trade). They would be better at giving a good guess than I am.
