Discovered this spider on the underside of a piece of used furniture I purchased earlier today.

This is a Triangulate Cobweaver, Steatoda triangulosa. She’s a particularly pretty one, I like her silver and dark brown coloration. Absolutely not a Brown Recluse. Yours isn’t dangerous to humans. I have this species in my house. They catch flies and mosquitoes better than other spiders that live indoors in New England. They rarely bite – only in self-defense if they end up with your skin pressing too hard against them. It’s fair. 🙂 They hunt insects and other arachnids. You’re very welcome. Some of them have markings that look like gold glitter instead of silver. The first one I saw was in the dark and I aimed a flashlight at it. The way the markings reflected sparkly gold light was really cool. I’m going to bring some more indoors from the foundation of my house when the mosquitoes start to appear and bite. Welcome to my favorite spiders!
