large female orb weaver, spins a web about 4 feet across every night then takes it down before dawn. she's molted since this picture was taken and looks very "leggy" now but this is the clearest picture available. Neoscona crucifera i'm guessing

any thoughts on why they would emerge from their daytime hiding spot but refuse to build a web? this one hasn’t built a web in about 2 weeks. she just spends the nights hanging upside out in the open
