Comments & ID Thoughts

This spider bit me in the neck at 4:30AM this morning. I felt something walk on my ear. As I rolled over in bed to wipe it away, apparently I wiped it down to my neck. I felt a quick pinch or sting. I quickly rubbed that spot with my hand and felt this spider. I jumped out of bed to see this spider in my hand. I live in Hiram Georgia which is about 30 miles west of Atlanta Georgia. So far there is no identifiable marks from the bite. Here it is about 7 hours later. But I do continue to feel a very slight sting or burn sensation. Can you please help me identify this spider? I do not believe it is a brown recluse. But can't seem to find any similar pictures of the spider online. I need to know if I should be worried or not from the bite. Thank you!

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 This looks like a male Ghost Spider (Anyphaenidae) in the genus Hibana. They’re not considered to be medically significant, but of course everyone’s immune system is different so of course see a doctor if you develop any symptoms that are cause for concern. I hope you have a speedy and uneventful recovery.
