Nursery Web Spider (sunning himself?) on a Campion Rose perennial in the morning after a night of rain.
I made an account I’ll never use again to post this comment,
St. Andrew’s Cross Spider
Idk what you mean with this comment but it isn’t a St. Andrew’s Cross Spider. It is a Nursery Web Spider.
it says spider type unidentified and listed in section under unidentified spiders in Mass

That just means the identification hasn’t been finalized by our Site Moderator. We’re all volunteers and work on this when we can. For now, most spider photos aren’t getting final filing because of the amount of time it takes. Our moderator will step in if she sees an identification that is definitely incorrect that hasn’t been caught by any other volunteers. And yes, this is a relaxed Nursery Web Spider. Like Orbweavers, such as the St. Andrew’s Cross, Fishing Spiders and Nursery Web Spiders have their head toward the ground when they are resting.
