Comments & ID Thoughts

Not a spider expert. Jumping spider found outside my house, over my car in a residential area. I thought that it was the omnipresent Menemerus bivittatus however after closer inspection it has a transversal black stripe on the dorsal part of the abdomen, so... not Menemerus. I've searched the internet quite a bit and I haven't found any spider with a pattern like this one. Found that zebra spiders have transversal black stripes on the abdomen but none I've found so far look like this lady. I have some more photos if needed.

Hi, I don’t know yet. I agree that it is not a Zebra Jumper. We only have two spider species in our photo gallery submitted from Panama, so we aren’t familiar with what is in your range. A way to check if a species has most of its range in your country is through the World Spider Catalog online. The grey horizontal bars that bear the species names also display the basic range. There are World Lists and Catalogs for various life forms, like fungi, plants, and such. I keep bookmarked links to all of the ones I find.
