What kind of spider is this? I have found at least 30 of these in my (wet, unfinished) basement. They are huge ranging from dime sized to 50cent piece sized!

The eyes help a lot, this is a Wolf Spider (Lycosidae). Tigrosa helluo is a common one that gets big like this but it should have a thin line between the eyes and down the middle of the carapace that I can not make out. I don’t know if that’s because the image is so dark or because it is something else.

(Okay) so I managed to bring this thibg upstairs and yes its a very dark brown in the light with a tan stripe down it’s back. These are safe spiders, right?
They’re not anything to worry over, not really an indoor species but I can see how they’d do all right in a basement. Like most spiders they have venom but are unlikely to bite except in self defense and not considered to be of medical significance, everyone’s immune system is different though. They prey on less desirable things. If you have a lot of these in your basement I’d be more concerned about whatever it is they’re eating down there.
