Comments & ID Thoughts
This beauty was spotted this morning on our driveway close to the entrance cover to our well. We are located in Western North Carolina Foothills in a forested lake community. We are have a rolling 7 forested acres. The spider's body is between 1 1/2 and 2" in length and with leg span is at least several inches across. We didn't pick it up because we were not familiar with an arachnid of this size and we're therefore caucious. Is this a variety of the Dolomedes "Water Spider" species? It resembles some pics of this species I found on web!
