Apparently a Velvet Ant
Yes, be careful these are wingless wasps. A common name is “cow killers.” One of our volunteers was recently stung on the by one that fell onto him and he had to spend a week in pain in bed.
This is what the Apache Jumping Spider is trying to mimic, to protect itself from predators.
