I believe it is a Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia viridans).

Yes, you got it! There are two possible Peucetia species in California, the other, rarer, one is P. longipalps. I don’t know which one of the two this is. He has cool color changing abilities. He looks like he has been on orange and dark green plants lately. The default color for the spider is pale green with paler markings and black leg hairs. The markings reflect light a bit, maybe UV light, in the dark under a bright light. If you put him on a rose bush he’ll change color (it can take a while) chemically to match the… Read more »
Thank you for the response. I had never seen a spider that looked like this. It was fun to watch for a while.
I agree with the ID. Spikey little things. Watch for eggs masses in prominent places and the spiderlings.
