Comments & ID Thoughts
This is my first upload!
I'm starting in Jicaral, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica for the month of May,2018.
It's rather wild here, with plenty of spiders, so this probably won't be my last.
Most spiders are relatively harmless, but the few that aren't are super dangerous, so I want to identify them.
I found this guy outside, but the dogs spooked him and he ran over my foot to get inside!
He's about 3"...maybe 4"if the legs are spread out. Looking directly at him, he's brown, with a bumpy, rocky looking rump.
When the camera flashed, and I assume o
in sunlight, he had pretty colors sparkling!
Also, he hops.
..i'm saying "he" but it may very well be a she. I'm certainly not going to get microscopic shots of his/her genetalia!
Any help with identification would be great! Thanks in advance!
Monique Nelson
PS: Outdoor traits is a guess, based on the area. I don't know where he actually lives.

..i’m still not entirely sure and would love your input.

Hi, and welcome to the site. Your spider is a wolf spider in the Lycosidae family, a female carrying her brood. May be Hogna genus for her size. They are outdoor spiders but can stray inside, often avoiding foul weather. They are not dangerous but a nervous sort with hands. Their venomous bite may cause pain, swelling, possibly other minor symptoms.

The sparkle from the light is from tapetum in their eyes, like cat eyes shining in the light.
Thank you! Once I figured out she was carrying her babies, this was my guess, but I really appreciate you confirming!
