Awww. ๐ They ARE long-lost relatives! Araneus diadematus isn’t native to North America, they immigrated. By “electrified” in your bio, I’m guessing that means “digitally ” in American, rather than you’re electrocuting insects for specimens. In Switzerland you probably also have what we call, “bug zappers.” They’re horrible devices that my father had in our yard when I was a kid. In the evening they lure all nocturnal insects that are attracted to light and it electrocutes and burns them to death. Right you are! I try to take the utmost care of the specimen I electrify… digitally, of course.
On the downside, most of these creatures are too swift, hence I have to stick to the slower kind… or wait until I find a dried-up one behind the fridge…
