Wow! That spi pot is a great tool! Fantastic shots! I’m going to guess Verrucosa arenata, the Arrowhead Orb-weaver. What a beautiful specimen!

Oh, that’s wonderful! Will you be posting the yellow ones? I have missed you. I’m so glad to be back and talking spiders with my buddies. I was visited by a lovely Araneus gemmoides or Araneus gemma last month. She had her web in some box hedges, and I found her daytime retreat, but after I disturbed her with a beam of light for some late-night pictures, she packed up and left. I’m so excited! I have a mudroom spider now. She’s a stripey Agelenidae of some type, and I’ve named her Clarice. I’m really glad she’s here. I’m stuck… Read more »

We got rain! The air has been clear since the 19th, which has been wonderful. Fresh air and water drops on flowers make me feel as if I owned the world. Fire season (the Idaho season between summer and fall) may well be over. I certainly hope so. It started abruptly for us this August with a wheat fire less than a mile away, but since then the smoke has mostly been blowing in from out of state. Clarice has moved out. I’ve posted the update to the page with the drawing so everyone who’s following Clarice’s story can find it. I’m so glad you enjoyed the comic! I had fun making it. I’m currently working on another series of drawings I’m calling “Spider Approaches to House Cleaning.” It features spiders with interesting and entertaining housekeeping habits, including the Trashline Orb-weaver and, since I saw your post here, the Arrowhead Orb-weaver.
