Hi, she’s a Banded Garden Spider, Argiope trifasciata. I just saw my first here in New Hampshire last summer. The females are impressively huge! If I didn’t already know the species I would have definitely come to this site to find out too. 🙂 I was with a man I know when we found her. This species shakes its web violently to scare larger animals and it definitely was effective on my friend. They aren’t dangerous to people. They might bite in self-defense if they become trapped against our skin through our actions. The venom isn’t medically significant. She’s one… Read more »
