Please help me to identify. It matches a picture of a Steatoda nobilis but that spider is found in the UK.

Phone was acting glitchy. This was found inside, in a kitchen, on the floor by a freezer.
It was probably our site, not the phone. I would have said Steatoda nobilis from the photo too, but yes the location is wrong. I’m pretty sure it is Steatoda triangulosa. We acting do have S. nobilis in California, introduced from Europe. The Steatoda spiders are quite active right now, we’re getting lots of photos of them and I found them almost everywhere I looked indoors and out yesterday. Thankfully they are my favorite kind of American spiders indoors. One common name is Cupboard Spiders. Thank you. I did more googling and discovered that Steatoda Nobilis is indeed now found in Virginia. Like you mention it came into CA, I see in 2011. It is now found in CA, GA, KY, MD, NV, NM, NC, OR, SC, TN, VA and WA. Given the range of all these states it very well might be in all of the contiguous 48.
