Congratulations! Your first spider is a False Black Widow, Steatoda grossa. They are in the same family as dangerous spiders like Black Widows and the Australian Redback, but this one isn’t dangerous. She can bite to protect herself, like other animals do, but it isn’t dangerous to people or pets. If I was still 8, I would think the most interesting thing about this spider is its web. You are very welcome! I remember the types of information that fascinated me when I was a child. Such things are useful for teaching people of all ages. I love sharing the information that I wash someone taught me when I was a kid. Spiders that can change their colors to match the colors and patterns they see are especially interesting to me. Misumenoides formosipes is a good example.
