Sorry about the poor picture quality, but I’m a bit squeamish with spiders didn’t want to get closer. The spider started bouncing in the web just after I took this picture.
The spider achieved exactly what the bouncing behavior is probably intended to do. There are several species that bounce, shake, or twist in their webs. Yes, she’s an Orbweaver. We use the dorsal (top) side of most spiders to do identification by photo. This is the underside. I know there’s stuff in the way of getting a shot of the other side. Touching a stick to a web can trigger a spider to turn over. That’s how I get some dorsal photos. You can post again as a new submission.
