I discovered her making a web inside an overturned rubber bucket in the farmyard. We live in the okanagan valley of British Columbia. We have 2 families of black widows on our property (they live in underground irrigation boxes) and this beautiful spider looks similar but she's wearing such beautiful colours. Love to know more about her.

You have discovered the man about the farm: a male Black Widow. If you have another shot from the front, look for “boxing gloves” ahead of the legs – these are the male’s pedipalps, used for mating (the female appendages look like a smaller set of legs). I spent many summers in Enderby – the Okanagan is beautiful, including the spiders:)!
