Comments & ID Thoughts
This was found on the wheel of my sister's car on an Autumn evening. The year was about 2006, so it's been a while back. I showed it to our local vet and he suggested showing it to the local colleges. I sent it to Concord college and Virginia Tech and neither of them knew what it was. I ran across this picture again here lately and I'm still curious.

The interesting thing about this spider is how its holding its egg sack in its chelicerae. There are several families that do this but I would say it resembles a Dolomedes (Fishing Spider) the most. Fishing spiders belong in the Pisauridae (Nursey Web Spider) family. The deep indent in its carapace might mean its a Dolomedes vittatus. It definitely is a fishing spider I’m just not 100% certain on vittatus being the correct species. Here is one for reference. https://bugguide.net/node/view/810652
