It’s a Grass Spider. Technically it does have venom for killing prey and self-defense, but I haven’t ever heard of anyone receiving a bite from one. The venom is not medically significant. Did he see it bite him? Insect stings and spider bites can (very rarely) introduce bacteria under the skin that can become an infection. Doctors sometimes blame spider bites when they don’t know the cause of an infection. Both of my parents were diagnosed with Brown Recluse bite wounds. There are not Brown Recluse spiders where they live. They were infected with MRSA and the misdiagnosis greatly delayed… Read more »
