Based on what I’ve seen on this site, I think this is an orb weaver of some sort. The typical ones around here are yellow and black. This one was on the side of a house, so I didn’t observe any web building design.
Thanks for looking, you’re correct. She’s Araneus marmoreus, a Marbled Orbweaver. This species has a wide variety of colors and markings. They can be black and yellow. I think you’re referring to Argiope aurantia though, Black and Yellow Garden Spiders. The common name says it all. Yours hasn’t made her egg sac yet. It will look like cotton candy.
