This is an orange orb spider. I live in Cyprus and we had our hedge cut yesterday. I saw this spider on the ground in our garden after the gardeners had left and I was clearing away debris. It hid quite quickly, then stayed still for a long enough time for me to go in and get my phone to take a photo.
