Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

Hey everyone, saw this little spider outside while sitting on a bench. I’m currently in Charleston, South Carolina. I was not able to find anything on the internet about it so I decided to come here. It is probably a baby spider as it was smaller than my thumb nail. Brown with white stripes along both sides of its body and a narrow abdomen. It has two significantly larger front legs that are darker brown than the rest of its body. I don’t have any more pictures of it unfortunately since it disappeared while I was trying to look it up.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! This cute little spider looks like a Pantropical Jumping Spider. https://bugguide.net/node/view/26711 The white stripes, long abdomen and the odd markings on the first pair of legs are how I recognize it. Spider legs don’t usually have longitudinal linear markings on the legs, bands of color are more likely. The benefit of your spider’s markings is that they camouflage well to the petioles and stipules and other linear plant parts. This one would be even better rotated 90 degrees, but it still is in a quite good spot.
