This was found in a dark ground floor bathroom today. It runs very quickly and was put outside. I at first thought it was a grass spider, but the abdomen seems unusual. I am thoroughly stumped by this one.

It is Tegenaria domestica, another kind of funnel weaver.
You sure? Their abdomens look far larger than the one in my picture. Is this one just really hungry? Also, I noted the lack of patterning on mine. Any reason for that?
Yes I’m sure. This is a male. Males typically have smaller abdomens than females but his abdomen is smaller than usual. This can be from dehydration or hunger. In terms of the lack of pattern, it has to do with the fact that the abdomen has shrunken meaning the markings will be harder to see.
