I think this is the type of spider that I found. I am in my mid forties, have never seen anything like this:

I was raking leaves glanced down and happened to notice it. I did not kill it, it was already dead (probably from the cold weather.)

That’s okay, we have a program glitch that causes multiples of photos anyhow. She’s Araneus marmoreus, a Marbled Orbweaver, as Spo0ders wrote. I’m Generation X too and I haven’t seen one in-person yet before also.
