The spider in this comic is an undescribed Theraphosidae of the genus Pamphobeteus.

Frogs and other small vertebrates are common prey for large tarantulas, especially in rainforest environments. But this tarantula enjoys a symbiotic* relationship with the tiny frog Chiasmocleis royi.

The spider allows the frogs to occupy both its territory and its burrow in complete safety. The frogs gain protection from predators, while the spider gains an important cleaning service. The frogs' diet consists of small insects, including parasites capable of killing spiderlings or the spider itself.

*Symbiosis: the interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both.

Thanks, that’s cool! I’m guessing that there may have been other types of earlier animals in the frog’s place in this co-evolution over millennia and the frogs eventually took that place.
