I have never seen a spider like this in our house before. I believe this spider came inside a package of socks I ordered online. I don't know the actual origin of the socks but they might be from China. I'm not an arachnologist and have no idea how to go about identifying it. Thanks for any help.

I don’t recognize it from the photo. If it isn’t too late, we could use a close-up pic. It seems to have traits of multiple types of US spiders, so yes, it probably isn’t American. It has the coloration of a False Widow in family Theridiidae, the markings of an Orbweaver in family Aranidae,and the posture of a Crab Spider in family Thomisidae.
