At first glance from a distance, it looked like a widow, and was in a tangled (cob) web in a tote corner of my home.

I believe it is actually a triangulate weaver.

You got it! Steatoda triangulosa, a Triangulate Cobweaver. They are in the same family, Theridiidae, as Black Widows. They other good news is that it is harmless to you, but Steatoda spp. spiders have venom that is quite deadly to insects and other spiders. At least one species in genus Steatoda, S. grossa, can kill Black Widows and Brown Recluses.
