I have no idea what this spider is. I photographed it when I was in Florida visiting my mother-in-law. It would have been near a man-made structure, possibly near a restroom. I found it very interesting so I took a picture. I find spiders fascinating but I'm not crazy about getting too close.

Trichonephila clavipes, a Golden Silk Orbweaver. Nice photo, better than the photo I took of one while not getting too close. I knew she wasn’t dangerous and couldn’t hurt me, but this species is quite large and intimidating in-person. I use visits to My Mother-In-Law as opportunities to photograph the interesting spiders, insects, and reptiles that survive on the fringe of the sterile artificial old-people compounds. She knows I hate the destruction of the SouthEastern habitats and tolerates my wandering off into “Real Florida” to look for living things. 😉
