Comments & ID Thoughts
Saw this on what looked like an Aloe Vera plant in a local department store. Thought it was a piece of a dead leaf from some other plant at first, until I looked closer and it moved. I think it’s a
Uloborus Plumipes aka Feather-Legged Lace Weaver. First time I’ve seen one and wanted to share.

Cool! I think you got the ID. I’ve seen them in the wild in South Carolina. U. plumipes was the identification that immediately came to my mind. Yes, I think they are unusual-looking too. It took me a while to realize mine were spiders too. The positioning of their plumed legs is odd. I like to look for accidentally imported spiders in nurseries and grocery store produce depts. I actually got banned from shopping at a produce stand for conspicuously looking too closely at the plants for sale!
