Comments & ID Thoughts

Found this one in my pantry. It only seems to be in this spot at night time. There are small moths or no see ums that get inside this room through a small crAck I guess and this spider feeds on those. I’m in Chattanooga Tennessee and is close to summer now. I have no clue what this is and would like to know if it is harmful. It doesn’t appear to have the color of a brown recluse and doesn’t have the red hourglass on its abdomen like a black widow would , so if this picture is not good enough for some one to try and help me try to identify it I can try to cup him and get better pictures. I’ll see what someone has to say first. Thank you! Oh also it’s web is not like the cool round ones with the fairly symmetrical circles getting smaller towards the center, it more of a thick messy trap backed into a corner.

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 This is likely a False Widow, Steatoda grossa. I can’t see the details as clearly as I’d like though.
