Comments & ID Thoughts
I was initially thinking this was the Center Line pattern of Pisaurina mira, but BugGuide.net says [1] that species doesn't occur this far west. I also noticed, from BugGuide.net's pictures [2], that the Center Line pattern includes dark bars on the legs, which my spider lacks.
Based on the eye arrangement, I can't imagine it could be anything but Family Pisauridae. This fellow was about 1/2" or maybe 5/8" leg span. My friend compared this spider to a peeled banana.
With regard to habitat, this spider was catching some sun just above the grass line on a metal-sided structure maybe 30 feet from a small creek.

It really looks like Pisaurina dubia, which also isn’t listed for Idaho on either site. It isn’t commonly submitted. Maybe because it is tiny and doesn’t move much. Note the light-colored blaze that runs briefly through the brown line marking between the eyes. I haven’t seen P. dubia personally, yet.
Thank you! Your observations have allowed me to find what I think is the right genus: Tibellus, the Slender Crab Spiders. I was pretty close to agreeing with your ID of P. dubia, but these differences were bothering me: The body shape is not as extremely narrow, nor are the legs as long, as I see in images [1] of Pisaurina dubia. The hairs and spots on the legs are consistent with P. dubia. This spider’s eye arrangement is a bit different than what I’m seeing in some P. dubia individuals; the furthest-back pair of eyes is definitely far to… Read more »
