size is a little bigger than a half dollar. Whitwell, TN on a property on the side of a mountain. Was under a trash bag, though I have seen else where in the yard once or twice as they were headed off somewhere.

Wolf Spider (Tigrosa sp.)
this was way too big to be a wolf spider. was more like the size of an adults thumb (not including the legs)
Wolf Spiders are among the largest spiders in North America. The largest species of Tigrosa that your spider could be max out at 2.5 to 3 inches in leg span with a cephalothorax length of about an inch.
