Gorgeous spider. Does fine under water. Hope it isn’t dangerous as it was captured in my basement.

This spider measures 2 cm from palps to end of abdomen. It can move quickly but does not jump. Anyone know what it is?
It’s a Wolf Spider, I can’t remember which one at the moment. How did you discover that it does fine under water? 😉 They do swim for surface insects. In southern states I mostly found Wolf Spiders in swimming pools near the bugs in the skimmer. They don’t like to be “rescued” from that situation. I tried and they kept jumping back in. One wrapped himself around one of my fingers when I tried to move him to land. It was the cutest spider experience I’ve had. No, they aren’t dangerous. Species: Hogna Lenta — it was the very first photo in their infinite line up.

This is a Varacosa sp.. Hogna lenta has different colorings and markings. Here is a good picture to compare to https://bugguide.net/node/view/1935992
