Comments & ID Thoughts

I have never see this type of spider before! Initially I mistook it for a wolf spider, but it was much darker, more black, and shiny--and a lot bigger. It has a distinct brown mark on its back that relieved fears of it being a widow or recluse, and I do believe this is a black lace weaver. Are they usually so big??

Female Black Lace Weavers can get quite big.
