Owner was unsure of species... my best guess is a Theraphosa of some sort

I can’t help much with tarantula ID, but the people at Arachnoboards are really good at tarantulas, so they might be able to identify it.

T keeper here, doesn’t quite look as “velvet-y” as a Theraphosa (might just be photo), possibly an Aphonpelma instead. I think the real tell in an adult like this would be the size. Bigger than 5in and probably Theraphosa, in which case I’d say it’s a Theraphosa stirmi due to the reddish setae
Thank you for the insight! My first instinct was Aphonopelma also, but this seems closer to a Theraphosa of some sort. It’s about 2″ currently. Would a pic from a different angle or different lighting help?
Oh if it’s only 2″ then it’s probably only a juvenile/sub adult, which could be why it seems less “velvet-y”. I’ll put my money on a T stirmi then!
