Comments & ID Thoughts

Please help me ID this spider. I live in Indiana. I am finding about one of these spiders per day now for the past week. They are all showing up in my second story in the main hallway, two in the bathroom, one in two different bedrooms. They aren’t hiding when we find them. They are out walking around on the walls, doors, and one even walked out on my child’s mattress while she was sitting on it. This one tonight started to run away when it knew we had spotted it. Around the size of a half dollar. Getting nervous since they keep showing up daily. I don’t think they appear hairy. Please ID it. Thanks!!

No need to worry about these guys! This is a black footed yellow sac spider. Their bites are definitely not pleasant, but they tend to be pretty skittish from my observations. If you want to get rid of these guys, try to eliminate any food sources, like fruit flies or mosquitoes and they should go away on their own.

Like Local said, they will go away when the food runs out. They seem to have very short lifespans. There’s no need to try to kill them, Nature will take care of that.
