He was missing a leg when I found him. His maximum tip to tip leg span is about 60mm.

Looks like a dark fishing spider to me. These guys can look pretty intimidating, but they aren’t dangerous, and pretty handleable. Nice find!

I thought the same! He was found on the plumbing over my basement sump (standing water there) and the location generally is marshy forest, so I think that fits.
